RecurDyn is the first MFBD
(Multi-Flexible-Body Dynamics)
tool
which integrates multibody dynamics
and finite element analysis com-
pletely in one single simulation
environment. This enables for the
first time to simulate true (meaning:
not modally reduced) finite element
structures within a multibody (MBD)
environment.
By bridging the gap of the historically
separated worlds of MBD and FEA the
well known deficits of modal reduction
are history.
The stiffness and mass matrices of
the FEA-bodies are created within
RecurDyn using the MFBD techno-
logy. This allows an immediate
actualization with non-linear defor-
mations of the body during the cal-
culation run. The evaluation of
stresses is reduced to a simple
post- processing step.
The availability of the complete
stiffness matrix enables the un-
limited calculation of contacts
between flexible bodies and their
counterparts (which can also be
flexible bodies).
By utilizing the MFBD technology
the RecurDyn user ventures into
simulation areas, which will still be
unaccessible to the classic MBD
for quite some time.
